ABOUT ME

My name is Pa Yeng Moua Khamda – Pa, for short. I grew up in Wausau, Wisconsin and I moved to Minnesota after high school and got my bachelor’s degree in hospitality management. I worked as the assistant general manager for the Guesthouse Inn & Suites in Rochester, MN for a few years before deciding to move to San Francisco to work on obtaining a degree in the fashion design field at the Academy of Art University. I will be graduating with my MFA in product development in Spring 2020. I have learned a lot from the fashion and product development programs at the Academy of Art University and have developed many skills in the area including an understanding of the fashion industry, fashion trends, designing apparel, drawing stylized as well as technical flats by hand and digitally, fabrics and materials, sourcing and pattern making and apparel construction. Being able to combine these skills with what I have learned in the business of hospitality as well as working with others while I was working as the assistant manager at a hotel will help me see the fashion production as well as the business side of the industry.
